thanks for that info derek! i have actually seen vinnie 3 times. twice with sting (large arenas) and the time he was here in chicago with kimo williams. but, even with kimo, he was 'sight reading' the whole gig and not 'really' letting loose. i think i'll be there! i'll hit the last 2 nights when he is reallycomfortable with the tunes! I'll be there, but I have to admit, for me, it's as much about Jimmy Haslip as it is Vinnie.
Derek, let's talk before the trek. I'll probably fly. (Could be cheaper than driving).

Seeing as how this is my 40th B-day weekend, and since Vince "might" be playing at a place I've never been to..... Maybe we could all get together for this one??
I could send Vince an e-mail and see if he's booked for the gig. Not sure how fast he'd respond.
Drumaddix?? Did you see Weckl the other night?? Get a chance to tell him I said hi!
Wonder what his reaction was.....
Couldn't we just call Yoshi's and confirm Vince's playing with the band??
I'll try finding out what I can.

hi all,
Got email from Jimmy haslip who confirmed me that Vinnie will be playing at Yoshi's all 4 nights!!
Isn't that great news??
I'm just hoping i can change the flight tickets i got. They're f....d up at united airlines,man..
One day it's all good, the next it's a big no!!
They've been driving me crazy for a week now.
Joe's mechanic:Weckl's show was great dude!!
As one of my friend said,it's like watching the wind in action.Dave is more fluid than ever and such a pleasure to watch.
Some songs were not really my thing.too many arrangements and not enough melodies.
I wish they did some of the old stuff from 'masterplan' and 'hard wired' but i guess Dave doesn't feel like playin' that very old stuff now.
Weingart is amazing and i really enjoyed Chris miek's performance which i had never heard of before.
I'm quite confused about R.Fierabracci.He's a nice bass player but he did not really touch me.I know some of you keep praising his talent, but i think i'd have preferred seeing Tom kennedy.
I'd actually love to hear Weckl with V.Wooten,V.Bailey or any of those cats in that context.I assume 'groove' is not his main thing but just out of curiosity you know.
The place was so packed we couldn't find a seat,so when the show ended, patience had left me so i couldn't talk to him and tell him you said hi.
He hadn't even come out from backstage than fans gathered right out the door, making it almost impossible for me(and a lot of folks there)to reach him.Maybe next time.
Now,Vinnie is next on the list...Hopefully.

Thought I'd bring up this thread again and find out how many from HOD will be attending this gig and if you all want to hook up some kind of Bay Area/LA hang? There is a good pizza resturant right across the street from Yoshis. That could be an option.

I'm actually flying in from Minneapolis on Thursday and staying for all four shows!!! I'm staying in the Jack London Inn, so I'll probably know that Pizza place pretty well by the time I fly out on Monday! Maybe I'll see some of you's guys down there!
(Any daytime sights anyone can reccommend for me to take in while I'm in San Fran/Oakland?)
